Little Monsters - a child's Poem.

Little Monsters live in me - sometimes they like to play
They shake me to the bones they do and keep my heart at bay.

I see them in my dreams sometimes i see them in the night.
The make me wake me now and then and give me massive fright.

I take them into work at times - i take them into bed.
I take them with me all the time - they never leave my head.

I see them in her heart sometimes, I see them in her smile
I see them in the mirror most - if only for a while.

I make them vanish when i want when things are going good.
Then other times they make me cry - I'd kill them if i could.

I know they are not real sometimes and only live in me, but
Why the fuck they live at all is something I can't see.

(Untitled)
By Po Hilton

I thought I had faced
the monster in my heart
a holiday away
what a better place to start?

Swollen and shivering
weaving throat, mind, chest
the monster comes to strangle
what my heart had put to rest.

Face, flower, tree;
bird, street, sea;
sky, kitchen, smile;
garden, breezy mile.

That monster stirs in me
a haunting melody
an ache, a pain, a release;
the love of you at peace.

Susie sees little monsters
By Kate Toon

Mum there's two brown monsters in my shoe.
I'm scared mum please tell me what to do.
Mum I saw a monster over there,
With lots of teeth and long red hair.

Mum there's a fat monster by my bed,
With a pink tongue and a big black head.
Mum will that monster eat my feet?
Am I safe if hidden by the sheet?

Susie don't be silly can't you see,
The red haired monster is your sister, Emily.
The fat one that is lurking by the bed
is just your little doggy, furry Fred.

But what about the monsters in my slipper?
They smell bad, like an awful rotten kipper.
Ah I see now what they my little Sue,
Poor Fred has found a brand new place to poo.

A semi acrostic, free form poem or sorts.
By Kate Toon.

Orion’s Alphabet.

A is for Apple.
B is for Bear.
C is for never ending Care.

D is for Dog.
E is for Eggs.
F is for Fabulously chubby legs.

Getting up is a struggle,
Hardly slept all.
I pick you up,
Jiggly and small.

Knew I would
Love you, but
Might find it tough
Negotiating nappies and all that
Other stuff.

P is for Poo.
Q is for Quiet
R is for Really needing to diet.

S is for Stomach.
That will never be slim
U is Understanding
Very little matters but him.

Well I’m struggling to finish
Find an eXit that’s big.
How about: You are
the zag to my Zig.

I dabble in mosaic’s and wanted to make a friend, who happens to be a teacher, a gift for her baby shower. So the idea of three blocks with ‘A, B, & C’ came to mind. They are about 15cmx15cm. The recipient was delighted and thought the ‘alphabet’ very appropriate given her career :)
